EWCO Water Disinfection

Common microbial contaminants in water include Cryptosporidium, Giardia lamblia, Legionella, and coliform bacteria. These contaminants can be inactivated through
water electrolysis and the generation of powerful oxidants.
EWCO electrolyzers generate a mix of powerful oxidants by running electricity through a salt water brine.
These oxidants are mixed into the water to be treated at concentrations permitted by the EPA.
Many of the most powerful oxidants are short lived such as chlorine
dioxide and ozone, whereas others are stable in solution such as hypochlorous acid and has a longer lasting effect. Hypochlorous acid is 80 to 100 times more
powerful as a disinfectant than the chlorine molecule that is traditionally used in water disinfection, sodium hypochlorite.
Using electrolyzed water (hypochlorous acid) as a means for disinfecting water is an all-natural process, eliminating the need for toxic concentrated chemicals. Not only is it safer,
but it is more effective and efficient.

- Efficient
- Electrolyzed water is generated on-site, therefore eliminating the logistical resources for purchasing, transporting, storing, and preparing of chemicals
- Non-toxic properties reduce regulatory paperwork, safety training, and liability exposure
- EWCO electrolyzers are energy efficient and able to disinfect up to 200 liters of water per minute using the electricity equivalent of 4 standard light bulbs
- Effective
- EWCO electrolyzers generate electrolyzed water composed of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and low concentrations of other powerful oxidants such as ozone (O3) and chlorine dioxide (ClO2).
- HOCl has been proven to be up to 100 times more effective than sodium hypochlorite as a biocide
- HOCl is neutrally charged, allowing for it to easily penetrate negatively charged bacterial cell walls
- HOCl is a powerful oxidant that is stable in solution unlike gases such as ozone and chlorine dioxide
- HOCl has the oxidation potential (>800 mV) to kill most microbial pathogens in less than 30 seconds
- Eco-friendly
- All-natural. Only elements introduced into the system are water, salt and electricity
- Non-toxic, non-hazardous, non-irritant
- No protective gear required (no inhalation, ocular, cutaneous, or ingestion risks)
- Satisfies the demand for implementing safer and more natural means of water disinfection
